The front dining area hums softly with casual chatter, the kind that rises and falls easily without ever feeling noisy.
Here, the food becomes a thoughtful companion to the ambiance—carefully prepared dishes that encourage exploration and comfort alike. Whether it’s the gentle spice and creaminess of the Thai coconut curry, the richness of a striploin steak, or the satisfying simplicity of a classic Caesar, each plate feels like a piece of a story unfolding at your table. The kitchen’s readiness to adapt—replacing a dish when needed or suggesting something new—adds a personal touch that goes beyond typical service.
Desserts bring a familiar sweetness to linger over, whether it’s a slice of homemade tiramisu or freshly baked cranberry oatmeal cookies, wrapping up the experience with subtle warmth. Each visit invites you to discover a new favorite or revisit the comforting notes of a longtime choice, making The Chalet much more than just a place to eat—it’s a spot to slow down, connect, and find little moments of joy in the everyday.

Great little place. Food is consistently great. I try something new every time I'm there. They made a cheesecake for a birthday and it was fantastic!

I've been in Kitimat for over 4 years now but have never been to the Chalet before. Outside of the occasional A&W meal or Subway, most of my meals are in camp. One of our group from work was leaving and a going away dinner was organized for us here. There was roughly a dozen of us so good sized group for sure. The Chalet is a cozy little resturajnt, they had us in a side room which was nice. The place is clean and nice, not modern but it has an esthetic it's going for and it achieves it. The server we had was very nice. She did a great job. I ordered Halibut fish and chips and they were very good, good batter and nice fish. The chips were nice too, not too thin to be fries just not quite what I'd qualify as chips proper. They did a great job of getting everyone their food around the same time. My friend across from me had a chicken burger and it looked really good, super thick and he said it tasted great. The schnitzel also looked amazing, I was leaning towards getting that myself but I do like fish and chips. The only negative I can say is with their desert. My friend across from me ordered it and he said the cookies tasted like the desert had been made in advance and been sitting in the fridge. So the oreos lost their crispness? Like they were soggy. So that's a shame as they shouldn't pre make a desert that will lose ots quality like that. Other than that, great dinner.

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner here. Food was wonderful, plenty for leftovers, and had a great view to enjoy. Would definitely return to try more of their specialities.

It was a dinner with friends, around 7 of us. I wasn’t sure what to order, so I asked the server for a recommendation — she suggested the Vienna schnitzel, and it was absolutely delicious. The portions are quite generous, so I kindly accepted the challenge to finish it all! On the other hand, someone at our table didn’t like their salmon, and the server promptly replaced it with a steak — no fuss at all. Service was fast and very friendly.

Our group of six arrived right at the Sunday lunch run. The manager met us outside and said how sorry she was that we'd have to wait a while since they were short staffed. It was a nice day so we chatted outside until they had a table for us. Kira was our waitress and was extremely helpful and friendly. We had drinks before us in no time and our orders were given. Despite a tricky order, she got it all correct. I had the Cod Fish & Chips which was great. The BBQ Wings and California Stir Fry also got rave reviews from the group. Times are tough and wait staff is in high demand, but they performed admirably. I like the rugged ambiance of the place. I'm happy to be back again.

Our first time to this popular local restaurant. Serves breakfast lunch and dinner. We each ordered the Halibut and Chips. It was good but there was a bit of gooey batter. Fish fully cooked and was tasty with the fries. I thought $25 was a bit pricey but I guess that’s the standard now. I would return.
